The Richard Walton Group is celebrating 34 years as an accomplished, award winning, multi-genre (World Beat, Jam, Fusion, Jazz, Funk, Rock) instrumental group. The band’s current musicians include Barry Caudill (sax \/ flute), David Meer (guitar), Matt Perich\u00a0 (guitar), Mitchell Shaivitz (percussion, engineer) and Richard Walton (bass guitar).<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n

2023 ushers in the highly anticipated new 8 song CD, “5 By Seven”.\u00a0 All songs were written and arranged by the band (current & past). Featuring tracks like the mambo concert favorite\u00a0 “Infatuation”, Proggy-like jams “Bad Dog” & “Blues In J” and atmospheric “Uncle Bumble”, “Kathie’s Lullaby” and “A Song For CL”. In 2016, the group was nominated ‘Best Jazz Artist’<\/em> by the Maryland Music Awards. In spring of 2016, the band received a WAMMIE nomination for‘Best Jazz Recording’\u00a0<\/em>for their highly anticipated latest studio CD “Under The Current”<\/em>. They also received 4th place at the WAMMIE Awards for ‘Fan Favorite’.<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Their acclaimed 2006 CD, \u201cJunction”, <\/em>features 13 captivating tracks; often comparing their music to ‘Steely Dan meeting the Pat Metheny Group’. In 2004, they released an \u2018enhanced\u2019 CD, \u201cLive At Blues Alley<\/em>“; that was recorded at the world famous jazz club in Washington, D.C. Formed in 1991, after being chosen as a semi-finalist in a Mid-Atlantic sponsorship, Richard and his group have gained regional and national recognition through airplay, songwriting contests, corporate & concert performances. The group have a proven reputation as versatile composers, producers & performers.
